Mould stains in the kitchen

A home that is damp or has mould can adversely affect your health, leading to respiratory problems or infections and triggering allergies or asthma symptoms. Those with skin conditions, respiratory issues, and weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable, as are young babies and children. Mental health is also adversely affected by living with mould, according to a study. In addition to the worry and costs involved, more recent research has shown that mould toxicity from mould toxins accumulating in the body can cause depression, anxiety, attentional problems, brain fog, and insomnia.

Some moulds are difficult to identify because of their colours, ranging from black, green, or white to greys, oranges, and browns. Moisture and humidity in the home are the most common causes of mould growth. A variety of factors can contribute to this issue, including leaking roofs, defective walls, blocked gutters and downpipes, plumbing leaks, and condensation.

At Competent Damp Surveyors, our independent damp surveyors can carry out an in depth survey to identify damp and mould and find the root cause. We will then provide you with a comprehensive report that will contain evidence in detail of where it is coming from and the most effective way to resolve it.
